Display/Screen
Venterior Portable Fish Finder comes with a TN anti-UV LCD display with green LED backlighting that allows you to observe readings at night or even in direct sunlight. The unit does not come with a touchscreen and is controlled by the keypad implemented underneath the screen.
As per the manufacturer’s specification, the provided transducer sensor is waterproof, but the main unit is not. In other words, immersing it in water can cause irreparable damage. The official specification does not provide us with a waterproof rating of any kind, so we cannot tell whether the main unit is resistant to accidental splashes and rain.
Sonar & Transducer
Venterior Portable Fish Finder features a sonar sensor that is able to reach up to 328ft with a minimum range of 3ft. The provided transducer comes with a removable float with rubber as well as a Side Scan adapter.
To use the device, simply throw the float and the sensor into the water and attach the Side Scan adapter to the hull of your vessel using the provided mounting tabs. After attaching the sensor to a handle, simply lower it into the water. The transducer comes with 25ft of cable.
The manufacturer does not give us the potential frequency range of the sonar, but the official specification states that it uses sonar beams angled at 45°. The operating temperature of the device is -20°C to 70°C (-4°F to 158°F), but the manufacturer recommends keeping the main unit’s temperature above zero for optimal performance.
The unit is capable of measuring depth in meters and feet and it automatically turns off if the display reads “—” for 5 minutes straight, so do not be alarmed if your device suddenly turns off on its own. Note that the unit cannot detect motionless (bait) fish or fish smaller than 10cm. If you are using this fish finder on a moving fishing vessel, make sure your overall speed is under 5 MPH.

Verdict
Venterior Portable Fish Finder is a budget unit primarily designed for casual fishers who do not need all the extra features offered by top-tier units. Thanks to its small size, it is a perfect choice for kayak or canoe fishing as well as for bridge or coast fishing. It can also be used for ice fishing. The device definitely comes with its share of limitations, but it offers plenty of value for its price, which is currently well under 50 dollars.
