AXIOM is a well-known series of fish finding units with GPS and chartplotting functionalities. All of the devices come with different transducers and chart packages, so it is important to note that this Raymarine AXIOM 7 review is about the model with the part number E70363-00-NAG. Display/Screen
As the name suggests, Raymarine AXIOM 7 features a 7” LCD screen with a pixel matrix of 800 x 480. It is a multitouch device designed to be used as a tablet, which explains the absence of a dedicated keypad. The display itself is optically bonded and comes with LED backlighting, which means you will be able to easily observe readings at night or in direct sunlight.
AXIOM 7 features Raymarine’s LightHouse 3 OS. The interface is user-friendly and lets you pin preferred icons to the start page for quicker and easier access. The unit is powered by a quad-core processor, which ensures proper functioning and quick and smooth operation.
Raymarine AXIOM 7 features an IP-X6 and IP-X7 waterproof rating, which means it can handle rain and water splashes but should not be submerged in water deeper than 3.3ft for longer than 30 minutes. However, it has not yet been tested against solid outside influences like dust and dirt.
Sonar & Transducer
AXIOM 7 comes with the RV-100 all-in-one transducer that supports High CHIRP as well as DW and SV. In other words, you can attach an additional external sonar without changing the transducer. The provided transducer comes with a temperature sensor and 28ft of cable and it incorporates gyro stabilization that compensates for the movement of your vessel.
For 2D, the unit does not utilize the CHIRP technology and covers 50 and 200 kHz. The angle of the beam is 25°. The max depth is 900ft for CHIRP, 600ft for DownVision, and 300ft for SideVision and RealVision 3D.
Navigation
As we already mentioned in this Raymarine AXIOM 7 review, the device comes with Navionics Nav+ charts for the coastal US and Canada. Additionally, the unit is compatible with Navionics Nav+ for Central and South America, LightHouse Coastal Vector Charts, and C-MAP Essentials and C-MAP 4D MAX+ with future LightHouse 3 updates. When it comes to GPS, AXIOM 7 is equipped with a highly precise 10Hz GPS/GLONASS module.
Since we are talking about a 72-channel GPS, your power consumption should be significantly reduced with faster satellite acquisition and increased sensitivity when fishing on inhospitable terrain. The GPS will also calculate the current speed of your vessel.
AXIOM 7 comes with an Autopilot app, but you have to integrate it with the Evolution autopilot system in order to use it. Finally, it is also compatible with numerous AIS and radar units. AXIOM 7 can store up to 10,000 waypoints with 150 routes (250 waypoints) and 16 tracks (up to 10,000 points per track).
Networking
Like all Raymarine devices, AXIOM 7 features a wide variety of networking options. This includes NMEA 2000, USB, and Ethernet ports as well as a microSD card slot. The device is also Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled and can connect to SeaTalkNG with an additional A06045 DeviceNet adapter cable (F).
